The mission of WLM is to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children in Louisiana through empowerment. We plan to achieve this mission by providing support groups, knowledge, resources, job assistance, higher education guidance, training, and workshops to promote physical and mental wellness and economic mobility.
At Woman Like Me, we are dedicated to championing women's empowerment and fostering a world where every woman feels valued, empowered, and confident. Our organization is driven by a vision to instill vital qualities empowering women to rise above challenges and embrace their true potential.

Our board members consists of single mothers and former single mothers who have attained success at different levels. Through lived experiences these ladies know and understand the obstacles single mothers face when trying to balance school, employment, motherhood, mental and physical health. This allows single mothers to see and build alliances with women like them who have become successful. This shows them that they can be successful as well. These woman are dedicated to empowering women through impactful training and resource provision. With their expertise and passion, they actively work towards equipping women with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed.

Takiyah Daniels RN, BSN, CCM
Takiyah is a registered nurse, certified case manager, former health coach, and former early childhood, junior, and high school educator. She has years of experience in case management, physical and mental health nursing. She is a single mother of 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Vice President
Markecia Barthelemy B.A, M.Ed.
Markecia is a National Board-Certified school counselor with over 20 years of experience in the Louisiana school systems. She is a former middle school educator and has served as the Data and Accountability Specialist for the Plaquemines Parish School District and Director of Special Projects for the La Department of Education. She is the current Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. South Central Region South La Cluster Coordinator and former president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Rho Pi Omega Chapter. She is a former single mother of 1 son.

Chela Clark B.S.
Chela has a Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice degree. She has worked as a psychosocial counselor and case manager in social services for over 20 years. She currently works as a case manager for those needing services post-addiction. She is a single mother of 2 sons.

Zara Stipe
Zara has years of experience in retail management and the hotel industry. She currently works for a large healthcare organization as a patient access clerk. She is the owner of Kai Kandles and Cakes Catering Services. She is a single mother of 2 sons.

Priscilla Crum LPN
Priscilla has been a licensed practical nurse for over 15 years. She has experience with adolescent and elderly care in home and facility settings. She has years of experience in case management, life coaching, and medication and health management. She is a single mother of 1 son.

Honorable Sharlayne Jackson Prevost
Judge Prevost is the First African American Judge of Jefferson Parish Second Parish Court Division “A”. She is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, Jefferson Parish Bar Association, Louisiana Judicial Council/National Bar Association, American Judges Association, Louisiana City Judges Association, Fourth and Fifth Circuit Judges Association, Fifth Circuit Judges Association. Judge Prevost is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter. Prior to becoming Judge, she became a founding partner of the VAST Law Group, LLC – an all-women’s law firm. She was also an administrative Hearing Officer for the Bureau of Administrative Adjudication in Jefferson Parish. After her graduation from Southern University Law Center, she became the Executive Director of Making Great Strides, a non-profit organization which bridged the gap for high school students from high school to college. Judge Prevost is a former single mother of 1 now married mother of 2 daughters.

Daneisha is a former flight attendant. She currently works for a managed care organization as a clinical administrative coordinator. She is the owner of Accurate Check Screening and Lab. She is a single mother of 1 daughter.
